Many patients have only a vague idea of the experiences of a chiropractic treatment. Therefore, this brochure provides an overview about what will be given, such as how your chiropractor works and what to expect during treatment.
Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our family. During your Initial Appointment your medical history is taken. Not only are the current back pain complaints discussed, but also any previous illness, surgeries and auto accidents involved to take into account which may show possible correlations with the problem.
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Pete to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Pete to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
After your consultation, Dr. Pete will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. The subsequent investigation focuses on the musculoskeletal system. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Depending on your specific condition, we may take X-rays as well. X-rays can be taken on site and are viewable almost immediately. X-rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions. If you have present CT, MRI, or Xrays previously taken, you should bring them during your first visit, so that these issues can be appropriately addressed.
Before starting treatment and chiropractic relief, the results are discussed with the patient. It is explained in detail, what causes the respective complaints and how these can be treated.
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and X-rays, Dr. Pete will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. Dr. Pete will provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.
At the conclusion of this initial appointment, you can choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue massage. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.
It is important that the patient learns to accept that their own contribution can influence the course of treatment and recovery very positively. Therefore, many patients get shown suitable therapeutic exercises. Suggestions to improve posture and to avoid unfavorable movements are given. Also tips for avoiding unfavorable habits in the range of comprehensive chiropractic care are given to ensure you get the best chiropractic relief possible. If injury is related to an auto accident, pain relief options can also be discussed.
